YÖS Preparation

YÖS (Foreign Student Examination) is an entrance exam for foreign students who wish to study in Turkey. It is held for admission to undergraduate programs in Turkish universities. The results of the YÖS exam are valid only for Turkish universities.

Turkish universities admit students to their programs based on YÖS exam results, covering a variety of fields such as medicine, pharmacy, psychology, law, teaching, and more.

The registration for the YÖS exam generally takes place in March-April. During this period, each university announces its specific admission and exam dates, as well as the conditions for entry.

The YÖS exam consists of two stages:

First Stage:

  • Logic
  • Mathematics

The number of questions in the exam varies depending on the university. If the exam is graded on an 80-point system, each question is worth 1 point, and on a 100-point system, each question is worth 1.25 points.

The exam duration ranges between 100-110 minutes, depending on the university's choice.

Second Stage:

  • Turkish Language

Since the education at Turkish universities is conducted in Turkish, it is mandatory to take the TYS (Turkish Language Proficiency Exam). This exam assesses your knowledge of the Turkish language and lasts for 60 minutes.

At "Hədəf Courses," YÖS preparation classes are held 3 days a week, with a total of 10 class hours per week.

Currently, it is expected that the YÖS exam will be conducted based on the MYÖS exam format, meaning that certain fields such as medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, engineering, computer science, etc., will follow the exam format determined by the respective universities.

However, according to the decision made by the Higher Education Council (YÖK) earlier this year, starting from 2023, the TR-YÖS exam will be conducted by ÖSYM (Student Selection and Placement Center). The first exam is scheduled for January 2023.

As there is still no complete detailed information, it is advisable for students to prepare according to the MYÖS exam format.
